The Blood Moon and website updates
Whenever cosmic events occur, I do my best to capture the moment. This week was one of those moments, when we experienced a total Lunar Eclipse, a.k.a. a “Blood Moon”.
It’s called a Blood Moon because of the way Earth’s atmosphere filters the wavelengths of light from the sun onto the moon. This one occurred on March 14th, 2024 in the early hours of the day, so alarms were set and equipment prepared beforehand. Weather is always a consideration and cause for concern, since you can’t “shoot the moon” when it’s overcast.

Work, work, work!
My photography archive is extensive, and what I have discovered over the past few months is how neglectful I have been in maintenance and organization. So, I have taken to rebuilding my archive from my original photographs. Talk about some long, tedious work - which is my own fault, because of the methods I used previously and ensuring I was able to rebuild everything. Of course, none of this comes without technical issues - unreadable portions of backup DVD’s, those types of things.

Starbase, IFT-3 and the Tesla
In March, I traveled to Brownsville/Boca Chica/Starbase Texas to photograph SpaceX Starbase, Ship 28 and Booster 10 before its then-impending launch. I felt somewhat confident that IFT-3 (In Flight Testing) would have a significant degree of success in achieving its goals of reaching orbital velocity and perhaps even soft-landing both the Booster 10 (B10) and Ship 28 in water.

Getting back to business
So it’s been a busy month, between the holidays and working my way through some of these topics. I’m just beginning to reorganize the existing stock of tens of thousands of photographs so that I can utilize new, improved tools for a better workflow.

A Passion Rekindled
iPhones, drones, GoPros, dashcams, software, AI… and I find myself rekindled in my passion for photography. It’s a journey I reembark upon and I ask you to continue to share this journey with me.
