The Blood Moon and website updates
Whenever cosmic events occur, I do my best to capture the moment. This week was one of those moments, when we experienced a total Lunar Eclipse, a.k.a. a “Blood Moon”.
It’s called a Blood Moon because of the way Earth’s atmosphere filters the wavelengths of light from the sun onto the moon. This one occurred on March 14th, 2024 in the early hours of the day, so alarms were set and equipment prepared beforehand. Weather is always a consideration and cause for concern, since you can’t “shoot the moon” when it’s overcast. A weather system with strong winds was forecast, but we did not experience that until late morning (and let me tell you, those were some strong winds - knocking out power and feeding grass fires). After getting up, setting up the camera on the tripod and orienting myself, I was able to get a few nice photographs, thankfully!
My plan was to then work later in the day and publish those photos on the website and social media but as I mentioned, the strong winds knocked out power and my plan for the day! How inconsiderate of the weather! So today became my day to publish on my website…
As I began to add the photos, I became dissatisfied with some of the format and artifacts I’ve been using… and decided to make some minor changes. I’m trying to encourage people to engage more with my social media, especially YouTube. My level of producing content really isn’t where it needs to be (yet) but I’m getting closer every day. One of the challenges (and double-edge sword) of social media is that it’s easy to get distracted from your own “business” content while still trying to engage in “personal” content with friends and family. The struggle is real, as they say - especially with people engaging about current events.
So the changes are made and, as always, I welcome any and all constructive feedback to help me improve.
Thanks for taking the time, and I’ll see you again around the bend.
